Willem van den Berg was
living in The Hague during his childhood years and stays there until 1938. He
gets lessons from his father Anton van den Berg, a glass painter. He also
follows lessons at the Rijksacademie voor Beeldende kunsten at Amsterdam, where
Willem van Konijnenburg is one of his teachers. Van den Berg moves to Amsterdam
in 1938, where he becomes a teacher at the Rijksacademie. He ends his career in
teaching in 1953.

Van den Bergs favourite

and ploughman with peculiar faces in often wondrous compositions. Besides the
Netherlands is also the Italian, French and Austrian farmers life favourite.
Many of his works take shape during the many travels he takes
to these countries.
